Frugal Spotlight: Nordstrom Rack

Nordstrom Rack is one of my fave stores to shop at, and I'm not just saying that because there is one next door to my job. The Rack (as I call it) is the off-price retail division of Nordstrom Inc.You can find the brands you love for 30-90% off the original prices. I often wonder in there on my lunch break, and I always come out with something, most of the time it's a pair of shoes.

Just last month nordstromrack.com became available so you can get these great bargains online! Shipping is free for purchases over $100 and you can do in-store returns.

Shop at Nordstrom Rack in-store, online or through the mobile app!

Spring Turned Summer

Saturday marks the first day of summer and I'm excited. This spring weather sucked! But before you put your spring clothes away, there are a few spring must haves that you should keep in your wardrobe as you transition  from  spring to  summer. Put away your leather jackets, long sleeve shirts, booties, long pants, and etc. Keep your shirt dresses, espadrilles, gladiators, and sunglasses out, these items are also summer essentials.

See the spring items to keep in your closet for this upcoming HOT summer. Next week I'll share the must haves for the season.

Save $ or Splurge $$$ MAC Studio Finish Concealer

I love finding a good dupe for beauty products. But I'll admit when I first started wearing makeup I had to have MAC everything. I wear makeup a lot and spending $20+ per product doesn't fit in my current budget. Especially when I run through certain products fast, like my concealer. My frugal alternative to the Studio Finish Concealer by MAC is Milani's Secret Cover Concealer. It's a maximum coverage concealer cream that completely covers and perfects all types of skin. If you cant find Milani try NYX Concealer in a Jar (sold at Target).

What do you think? Splurge or Save?

The Look for Less: Sergio Rossi

Look for Less Sergio Rossi

This look for less literally fell in my lap. I saw this Sergio Rossi shoe on stilettomeup's instagram one day and the next day I saw an almost identical shoe at Bakers Shoes. Both shoes are super cute and come in a variety of colors, perfect for a summer wedding. Been searching for this look for less? Here it is!

Pull Down Your SHADES

Christen and myself would like to think that our friend Mayne is a shade collector and potentially has a different pair of sunglasses for each day of the month. Even though the first day of summer is approaching in the coming week that shouldn't be when you're out looking for some unique shades.

Below are some of my favorites for spring/summer 2014. I like to keep the price for my sunglasses under $10-$15 so these are definitely frugal options.

When in Rome

Gladiator sandals have deep roots in Ancient Roman history, but in today's time we wear them for fashion. It's funny to me how fashion and always repeats itself. But anyway gladiators are the it shoe for the spring and summer, whether short and flat, knee high, or high heeled. Prices range from the $2000 on down, but of course we're going to bring you the more affordable versions, all for under $50.

Row 2 - Knee High: First | Second | Third
Row 3 - High Heel: First | Second | Third

What's the TREND? Evolution of Footbed Sandals

Whats the Trend!

As you may know the Birkenstock sandal has been around for years and can cost between $90-$120. But this style has evolved as a very trendy and comfortable sandal. Different prints, platforms, studs and even pony hair to name a few that have popped up on the scene. I recently purchased a pair (pictured below) from my local Target only $30!

After making this purchase I have confirmed this sandal as my latest obsession. I am currently eyeing two pairs in Steve Madden's sale section. The perfect additional percentage off sale would be like Christmas right about now. Check out some of the styles!

Meet Frugal Shopaholic Brittanie Dacus

Name:
Brittanie Dacus

Where are you from?
Charlotte, NC

Explain your blog name?
The Glam Hive originated from my love of fashion combined with my social media name (Glamour_Bee)

Describe your personal style?
I consider my personal style to be simple, classic, and sophisticated. I personally think that when you have too much going on in an outfit you take away the essence and the simplicity of it. Although, some may not agree less is always more.

Where are your favorite places to shop?
When it comes to shopping I don’t discriminate. I literally shop everywhere because I like to keep a unique style/look.  I frequent stores such as The Gap, H&M, Ann Taylor Loft, F21, Target, Banana Republic, and Jcrew. Don’t let the names of my favorite stores fool you, I always purchase from the clearance racks.

What does being a "Frugal Shopaholic" mean to you?
Being a “Frugal Shopaholic” means being able to find just the right piece, classic or trend, at the right price or within your budget.   I rarely pay full price for anything.  Most times I shop when there’s a discount on top of a discount.

What is a frugal shopaholic tip or trick that can share with our readers?
My frugal shopaholic tip(s) would be 1. Find out which day your favorite store does markdowns. You should never pay full price for an item because it will always go on sale. 2. When shopping look for both classic and trendy pieces. 3. Check online and in store for promotions and choose the option that will give you the most savings
