What kind of pants does Super Mario wear? Denim Denim Denim LOL (Say it like the theme music. If you don't get it, perhaps this will help you out)

Anyway, you may have seen this Oversized  Hooded Denim Trench Coat on many online boutiques (Instagram boutiques as I like to call them) and even Etsy prices ranging from $60 to $90. I'm not trying to knock anyone's hustle, but Derria and I both have this coat and please believe we didn't pay over $35. As frugal shopaholics we are always looking for a deal, this coat is cute but it's not worth $60 - 90. If you have been eyeing this coat "get the look" over at Amazon or eBay for half the price.

Christmas is just two weeks away and if you're anything like me you haven't started shopping yet. Keep Calm and Stay Warm: 12 Coats for Winter


My least favorite season is pretty much here. I'm not a fan of the cold weather at all. In fact I hate every degree under 75, but anyway this post is not about how much I hate the cold. The key to being fashion forward during the cold months is a nice coat. A great outfit can be ruined by a sub par coat and a plain outfit can dressed up with a bad coat or jacket. Men's Coat Guide: $100 & Under

Hey Male Frugs,
Not only is it important to be warm this fall/winter its also good to be warm in style. In the colder seasons your coat is the first thing that people see before your outfit is revealed. The are a plethora of coat styles and this post will highlight a few and keep it in a frugal state of mind as well.

 Leather Moto Jacket- Great for a night out with friends, club or bar hopping.

Trench Coat- They are definitely worn in colder weather, but suitable for everyday wear to work and out & about. 



 Bomber Jacket- Worn to informal events/outings with friends etc.  (basketball/football games) 

Blazer- Suit jacket without pants gives your ensemble a "no nonsense" look!

Three Pocket Wool Mix Blazer $80
Denim Jacket- Can be worn with just about everything but a suit. You can layer it with a hoody to keep you warm in the winter/fall months. Very causal!

Varsity Jacket- Can be light or heavy weight



Parka Jacket- Worn in the winter months, very heavy and warm for colder states.

Look for Less: Jeffrey Campbell


As you've probably seen all over the web, the gladiator pump (open-toed) has been popular since early spring. I absolutely loved gladiator pumps but I wasn't willing to pay over $50 for them, it just wasn't in my budget. Plus, I was interested in finding a closed-toed gladiator pump. I came across a black Jeffrey Campbell pair on Karmaloop.com about a month or two ago but they were definitely over $50.

 I found the "Look for Less" not to much longer after that for $59, with a coupon only came to $50!, the exact price I wanted to pay and I got free shipping. This item can be found on a few websites now and they are also available in other colors including: cream, cognac and black.

Describe your personal style?
I would describe my style as casual chic. I love a good skinny jean for versatility, but I'm really a sucker for a cute, feminine dress and/or statement accessories.

Where are your favorite places to shop?
I'm all about thrift shopping. I'm all for affordable chains like H&M and Target, but thrift shopping is where I really find the one of a kind pieces for just a few dollars. Though thrifting can take some time and you never really know what you'll find, the treasure hunt aspect is what I really love. Last month I found a pair of Balenciaga booties for $1. You can't beat that!

What does being a “Frugal Shopaholic” mean to you?
Being a Frugal Shopaholic means embracing the look of high style but being savvy enough to never pay full price. 

What is a frugal shopaholic tip or trick that can share with our readers?
A tip I have that's really timely for right now, check your local thrift stores. The holiday/end of the year can see a surge in donations. People are cleaning out their closets to make room for the new stuff and they're also donating to get those last minute charitable tax write offs. And in general, people are generous around the holiday so they're more likely to let go of the amazing clothes that have been collecting dust in their closets. 

Explain your blog name?
I came up with Looking Fly on a Dime (and trademarked it!) because I wanted a name that's self explanatory and sums up my philosophy. Anyone can buy "cheap" stuff, but there's an art to making the affordable look like it cost a million bucks. I love sharing my tips and tricks with other women who share that sentiment. I've worn head to toe outfits that cost less than $10, but no one would ever know it...until I tell them! Looking Fly on a Dime is all about knowing your style is never determined by your wallet.
