The Look for Less: MICHELE Deco Bracelet Watch

Hey Frugs! It's been a while. Hope you are all are doing well in the midst of the pandemic. We're trying to get back into the swing of blogging. It felt kinda weird blogging about shopping while so may people were out of work. However, this MICHELE look for less was too good not to post. It's super affordable and you'll never guess where I found it.

MICHELE watches are a timeless classic and staple for many women. Pair it with a few bracelets and you have the perfect stack. These types of items are definitely investment pieces and are worth the splurge if you have it. But if a high-end watch is not in your budget don't worry there is always something comparable style-wise out there. For example, the MICHELE Deco watch retails for a over $2,000. I found a look-alike at Walmart, yes you read that correctly, for $13. Now the quality is nowhere near a MICHELE watch but if you to give off that look; It's definitely giving. Check it out!

Affordable Skincare Products Under $30

ORIGINAL: 4/24/2018
UPDATED: 4/21/2020

Skin is in as I’ve said multiple times on here. I’ve struggled with hormonal acne since I was 12 with a small side of cystic acne and in these recent years some eczema (or so I thought). Add all that together is a recipe for terrible skin.  I’ve tried everything in the book from natural remedies to the strongest of prescriptions, but that thing that has worked the best is a consistent skincare routine with products that fit my actual skincare needs. I have to give some credit to Accutane. I did 2 rounds starting in 2016 and that cleared 90% of my acne. However, I still get a small breakout here and there as well as some hyperpigmentation cause I have a bad habit of picking my face. My skin problems were under control until I found out I had an underlying disease (cutaneous lymphoma) that was pretending to be eczema. The past year and a half my skin has been horrible due to my skin lymphoma. When it got really bad I couldn't even do my skincare routine because everything irritated me. But after completing phototherapy and radiation it looks completely better. Now, I can get back to perfecting my skin.

My skincare routine is what keeps everything under control. For years I was using the wrong products. I had always thought that I had dry skin but it wasn’t until I went to an esthetician that she told me I was wrong, I combination/oily skin. I was using gel and foaming cleansers that were literally drying my skin out to the point that I thought my skin was dry but in fact, it was just dehydrated. If you can’t afford a trip to the esthetician schedule a consultation with Hey Aprill or Cave of Beauty they will get you together. Don’t have time or money for that either check out this post on April’s blog about determining skin type. This will help guide you to the right products. It doesn’t matter how good the product is if it’s not for your skin type. Odds are the product won't work well for you.

After finding out my skin type is when I was finally able to get products that worked for me. I switched to oil and more hydrating cleansers, added in some chemical exfoliation, started hydrating and wearing sunscreen. Yes, black people, we have to wear sunscreen. Have you been trying to figure out why that hyperpigmentation won't go away? Well, it's getting darker every time you go out without SPF.  I adopted my own version of the Korean beauty 10 step regimen. I’m not a skincare expert but this is what has been working for me. Here are the steps I take in my routine.

Oil Cleanse - DHC Cleansing Oil (PM to remove makeup)
Exfoliate - Paula's Choice 2% BHA Liquid (2x A Week)
Hydrate - Cosrx Essence (AM/PM)
Treat - The Inkey List Polyglutamic Acid Hydrating Serum + The Ordinary 100% L-Ascorbic Acid Powder  (AM)
Peel - The Ordinary AHA/BHA Peel (Every Other Week)
Skincare is my current obsession. I buy more beauty products than clothes these days that I had to implement a 1 empty 1 newbie policy. So that means I can only buy a new product once I’ve finished one. This keeps my product junkie under control. And of course, I keep it affordable when it comes to what I buy. There are great quality products at all price ranges. I just tend to buy on the lower end. I've put together some widgets with affordable skincare products under $30. Check them out!

The Look for Less: Judith Leiber Stack of Cash

Judith Leiber bags have been in the hands of celebs heavy lately. Celebs like Beyonce, Keke Palmer, Angela Bassett, Rihanna, Lupita, J.Lo, Alicia Keys and every member of Kardashian/Jenner clan have been seen wearing the unique novelty clutches on red carpets, parties, and award shows. Judith Leiber's bag comes in so many styles like cocktails, foods, money, animals and whatever else you can imagine. Now, her bags start at $800 and can go up to as high as $7000. I found this store on Etsy that sells reasonably priced crystal embellished clutches in similar styles as Judith Leiber's bags. Have you been eyeing her bags but the price is too steep?  Well, look no further.

Frugal Shopaholic Tip: Buy Promo Codes On eBay

Have you ever been looking for a promo code while shopping and haven't been able to find one? Well, I now have a solution for you. I found this great shopping tip on Twitter. Simply go to eBay.com, search for the retailer you need a promo code for, purchase it and code will be delivered to your email instantly. Now, this won't work for every retailer but I've seen good discounts for major retailers and they are worth it because they cost as low as $0.99. That's nothing compared to what you could be saving.

Step 1: Find the promo code you wish to purchase.

Step 2: Buy the te listing on eBay.

Step 3: Get the promo code and save some $$ when online shopping and sometimes in-store.

I hope this tip helps you save some money on your next shopping trip. Share this tip with everyone you know, cause friends don't let friends(and family) pay full price.  Click here to sign up for Ebates or Dosh and get cashback and coupons when you shop!

Danielle Bernstein x Macy's Collection

If you aren't familiar with Danielle Bernstein, there's a good chance you are familiar with We Wore What. Danielle is a huge style influencer and is also the Founder and Designer of We Wore What. I personally have been following Danielle on Instagram for a few years and have always enjoyed the fashion she shares with her audience. While randomly scrolling through Facebook last night I saw an ad that included some really cute pieces. What a trap! I clicked it and to my surprise it was Danielle's collaboration with Macy's.

The collection was released on March 5, and has already sold out of some pieces. It is size inclusive and the size range is 00-24. Huge plus because we all want to be fly no matter what size we wear. The entire collection is under $100 and the color palette is pretty neutral. I am most excited about the structured items. She has a ton of suit options from pinstripe to plaid, you can also grab the shorts or the pants. I am always here for a Power Suit. Super excited to share the line with you all. Check out my favorite pieces and the full collection below!

Save $ or Splurge $$$ Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder

I swear every time I go to buy a high-end product I end up unintentionally find its dupe. In the search for a new setting powder, I ran to my friend google to see what was the best option. Laura Mercier's powder (which had been on my wishlist) was the highest rated and a cult classic. Before I went to purchase, I saw a comparison to Milani's setting powder and decided to try it out. The 2 products are very similar and both have a light and deep formula. Check out the comparison and my thoughts below.

Make It Last Setting Powder is a high performance, ultra-fine translucent loose powder designed to seamlessly set and extend makeup wear. Features a weightless, oil-free formula infused with light-reflecting pigments to diffuse fine lines and imperfections for a luminous, shimmer finish. Available in Translucent  Light to Medium and Translucent Medium to Deep.

A lightweight, easy-to-apply, loose powder that blends effortlessly to set makeup for up to 12 hours. This award-winning powder locks in makeup for long-lasting wear without adding weight or texture. It absorbs oil and reduces shine all day, creating a flawless, matte finish with no flashback in photos. These truly-translucent shades work on all skin tones= and create a soft-focus effect to subtly blur fine lines and imperfections. Available in Translucent and Translucent Medium Deep.

Have you tried either of these powders? I've tried them and they are both nice powders. However, when you do the price break down the save isn't really a save at all. Milani is actually double the price per gram. So the smart thing to do would be to purchase the Laura Mercier. I'm currently using the Milani right now because I found them at Walgreens for under $3 and I purchased the last few they had.

The Look for Less: Skims Sleep Set

Happy New Year! This is my first blog post of the new year.  I hope everyone had a great holiday season. The older I get the more I look forward to getting new pajamas for Christmas. Pajamas are one of those essentials that I hate to buy myself. I don't even wear them to sleep, it's more so loungewear for me. But anyway, I received a couple pairs for Christmas. A cute Victoria's Secret romper from my sister and a 2 piece set from my mom. But the real star was the Shimera Tranquility Set my sister got my mom from Nordstrom Rack. It was the softest fabric I have ever touched. I instantly went to find what fabric (Modal) is was and what I could buy that was made out of this fabric. I have a rare form of lymphoma that affects my skin and lots of things make me itch. So when I discovered Modal fabric I was shook.

Modal is especially big in pajamas right now. Every brand is making pjs in this fabric, even Mrs. KKW herself. For the low low price of $128, you can have a modal sleep set. Now I told you I was obsessed with this fabric. I have shopped around for these pajamas at different price points and have found that the fabric is all the same. The $100 set from Nordstrom feels like the $40 pair from  Nordstrom Rack that feels just like the $30 set at Target. So I can't imagine that the Skims pajamas are much different than those at Target. If you had your eye on them save yourself some money and go to Target.
