What's The Scoop at Walmart

There are so many new collaboration lines being released by big retailers like HM, Target and now Walmart! I was introduced to the Scoop brand by seeing ads on my Instagram feed and a few of my blogger friends in NYC attended a launch event for the collaboration. I was super intrigued by how quality the items looked just from seeing it online and had to do more research to see if it was worth a purchase!

Walmart is truly trying to make make strides in the fashion realm so that they are a fashion destination for the masses. Earlier this month they announced the relaunch of the private brand Scoop  geared toward the fashion forward customer. Previously Scoop was a legendary fashion boutique that was the go to spot to find up-and-coming designers or key pieces for your look.

The Scoop brand for Walmart offers a curated collection of more than a 100 trendy pieces that are affordable and size inclusive. The price range for this collection is $15 to $65, not too shabby.

New Brands at Target: Wild Fable

Image result for wild fable logo
Late last year Target let us know that they would be phasing out some of their staple brands and reeling in new and improved ones. At first, I was very sad about the changes that would soon come but with all the newness and hotness I have seen thus far, this has to have been the best decision Target has ever made.

The most recent and upcoming release will be Wild Fable, said to be released tomorrow August 3!   Wild Fable is a women's brand that will include plus sizes. Size are from 0 to 26W. Items ranging from sunglasses to jumpsuits.

The Target close to me actually had the line on display and for sale, so I was able to look at the quality of the pieces and try on some of the items that I was interested in buying. So far I have a plaid two piece and a super cute fanny pack!

The best thing about these super trendy and chic items is that nothing is over $40! A frugal Shopaholics dream! Get a sneak peak of Wild Fable NOW!

P.S. Items I'm eyeing are below!

Meet Frugal Shopaholic Dionne

Name:
Dionne

Where are you from?
I'm a military brat born in Germany. However, I've lived in Atlanta since 2002. So that's home.

Explain your blog or Instagram name?
A random guy on twitter actually gave me the name Closet Whisperer a few years back. My blog name and everything used to be "Iam_Ideal". One day I just tweeted that I like making people feel like they need a certain thing in their closet and I asked what do you call those people. He responded: Closet Whisperer. I thought it was funny but I loved it and it has stuck ever since.
Describe your personal style?
I'd say my style is pretty simple. It's a mix of classic and statement pieces. I know what works for me and I stick with that.

Where are your favorite places to shop?
I usually stick to the same places when I shop. I love those little mom and pop stores in the mall. There are gems in there if you can get past the fluff. Of course, I love TJ Maxx, but I only shop their runway and contemporary section. It never lets me down. H&M has also been stepping it up lately. They were slacking for a minute. I, also, prefer shopping online lately. So, a few of my favorite online stores are revolve, Shopbop, and forward.

What does being a “Frugal Shopaholic” mean to you?
Frugal to me means being smart. I'm still in the pre-rich stage of my life right now but even if I wasn't I would know that you should rarely if ever buy anything at full price. Besides true style doesn't come from how much something cost but how you wear it.

What is a frugal shopaholic tip or trick that can share with our readers?
A frugal tip I have is to always cross check prices. Even if I'm in TJ Maxx and find something I love, I'll look online to see if it's cheaper elsewhere first before I buy it. Also with H&M sign up for their texts or emails and get a 20% off coupon. I don't care if it's already on sale for $5, I will still use that 20% off. Also, a tip for stalking something that goes on sale online and sells out..... If you have google chrome, add the page monitor extension and it will notify you every time something happens on the page. So, say the size of that item comes back in, it'll notify you. Just be quick so it doesn't sell out again.

How can we keep in touch with you?
Instagram is my main platform right now. So you can follow me there @ClosetWhisperer

Meet Frugal Shopaholic Brandi Mishonna

Name:
Brandi Mishonna

Where are you from?
I am originally from a small town in South Carolina. I consider Charlotte, NC home (home is where the heart is). But currently reside in a small city right out of Atlanta, GA.

Explain your blog or Instagram name?
My blog name is “pretty girl, Smarter Woman.” When I first joined social media I remember trying to come up with this cool and catchy bio in like 140 characters. So I came up with “she’s a pretty girl but an even smarter woman”. Over the years I shorted it to pretty girl, Smarter Woman and it seemed like the perfect name for a blog targeting women. As much as I am addicted to all things fashion, beauty, and hair I think it’s 100 times more important for my focus to be on my education and intelligence. Basically, it’s my way of saying ‘beauty and brains”. But if I had to choose it’s definitely brains over beauty.

My social media name is the same on every platform. Brandi Mishonna. And that’s my real first and middle name. I have always loved my name so it made it easy when it was time to choose a name for social media.
Describe your personal style?
I am so tempted to describe my style as Zara. I wear whatever Zara sells. I like all things trendy, affordable, feminine. I like to find pieces that grab attention and stand out without looking like I am trying to hard or putting a lot of effort in my look.

Where are your favorite places to shop?
Zara hands down, Old Navy for jeans,  Boohoo and occasionally Nordstrom.

What does being a “Frugal Shopaholic” mean to you?
Being a frugal shopaholic means that you understand that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to dress well. You can be fashionable and frugal at the same time. It’s okay to not spend a lot of money, especially if it’s not in the budget, buying expensive or designer pieces. I get the best fashion inspiration from every day, regular girls who are shopping at Zara and Target.

What is a frugal shopaholic tip or trick that can share with our readers?
Shop out of season. Right now Zara has a big sale going on and most of the pieces I purchased are for fall. I was able to grab long sleeve tops and dresses for as low as $12.99

Join your favorites email lists. They usually send out deals to those who subscribe to their mail list. Shop during the holidays (even the smaller holidays). Most retailers offer some deal or savings during the holidays. Download apps like RetailMeNot, Cartwheel (Target) for coupons and deals.

Victoria Beckham x Target

Let me start off by saying I've LOVED Victoria Beckham since Spice Girls. I am waiting for the Spice Girls reunion. They all look great for their age but that besides the point. Have you heard?? Victoria Beckham x Target is happening and will be hitting the streets this weekend... Sunday to be exact and after looking at the lookbook I already know what I am rushing to the store to purchase.

What I am most excited about is that it is very affordable. The collection range from $6-$70 but the vast majority of the items are under $40. Right in my frugal range. It comes in Women's and Girls sizes and will only be available from April 9th until April 30th. Check out the lookbook for Sunday's release. The looks I plan on snagging are below!

Meet Frugal Shopaholic Aileen Luib

Name:
Hi, I'm Aileen Luib!

Where are you from?
I'm from Inland Empire in Southern California.

Explain your blog or Instagram name?
The Baller on a Budget was a project I'd been longing to create for years. I came from a family that always had to budget and it seemed there was never enough money to enjoy nice things or experiences, so over time, I became more resourceful about getting things at nominal prices. After a 2nd job layoff, I realized that job instability and financial insecurity were common issues with people working 9-5 jobs, and both problems cause many to feel like they can't enjoy themselves because of a tight budget. I dove into blogging as a means to inspire these people to become more money-savvy without depriving themselves of the finer things in life.

Describe your personal style?
I don't think I have a particular style - I really like to experiment with different styles. I'm curvy at the hips, so I want to flatter my figure I prefer form-fitting dresses or jeans. Other days I'll throw on some Jordans and streetwear. Sometimes I can throw on a T, ripped jeans, some heels and a coat. My style really just depends on my mood, weather, and the occasion!
Where are your favorite places to shop?
I do the majority of my shopping from Amazon.com, just because I really like their low prices and I get free two-day, one-day or even same-day shipping depending on the item. I shop for basics at Cotton On and I get my outerwear and intimates from H&M since they have quality coats and lingerie for a reasonable price. I get my "trendy" seasonal pieces from the swap meet or even Forever 21 because trends tend to go out of style really fast, and both places I can get some nice pieces for cheap.

What does being a “Frugal Shopaholic” mean to you?
Staying up-to-date with the trends usually means you'll wind up spending money on clothes every season, and it's not practical to splurge on fashion or beauty products that often, especially when these things are priorities in the budget. Being a frugal shopaholic doesn't have to mean that you're "not with the times" or "fashion-forward," you're just more practical and put your real dollars towards things that matter most. Fashion is great, but nothing is worse than having your credit cards maxed out and no money in the bank, even if you're rocking a pretty designer purse or shoes.

What is a frugal shopaholic tip or trick that can share with our readers?
Zero impulse shopping is the rule that I live by. Oftentimes I want to buy something at that very moment, but I'll force myself to stop and give it some time. If I really want it I'll come back for it, but more than half the time my mind changes and I no longer want it. By waiting a while, sometimes you'll also see the same item go on sale or you'll find something even better. Impulse shopping is a result of no self-control, so by turning away a purchase, you can give yourself some time to make a rational decision.

How can we keep in touch with you?
I post at least once a week at www.theballeronabudget.com and several times a day on my Instagram at www.instagram.com/theballeronabudget.com!

What Derria Wore

IMG_5714More men's wear in my closet in 2017! I'm not afraid to go to the men's section in any store just to see what hidden gems I can find. The shirt I'm wearing is from the H&M men's department in an XS so it fits just like it would in the women's section.

Lets talk about my love for the Who What Wear x Target line. I've purchased multiple pieces from the line and they continue to deliver quality, simple yet Chic apparel at a reasonable price. Sometimes it's priced cheaper than Targets staple store brands. I've been eyeing these pants for a few weeks and knew they would be perfect for this look. Only $30, not bad! My favorite part of this look is my fanny pack. Christen and I actually bought these at the same time and didn't know it until we got on Facetime and went to show each other per the usual! You'll notice that fanny packs are making a come back and I had to bust out in this faux leather quilted one from Forever21. Got it on sale for $11, it's sold out now but I've provided a link to one similar below. Check out myoutfit deets below!

Meet Frugal Shopaholic Kiara Sharde

Name:
Kiara Sharde

Where are you from?
Durham, NC

Explain your blog or instagram name?
I kept it simple with my first and middle name. Kiara Sharde' sounds spicier than Kiara Holley (my last name) lol

Describe your personal style.
Laid back and cozy. I walk everywhere and I'm on my feet all day at work so I'm usually in sneakers, loose jeans, and a tee.
What are your favorite places to shop?
Before working as a buyer at Beacon's Closet, a designer and vintage thrift store,  Zara and Urban Outfitters were my usual places. But now just about all of my clothes come from my job. I find the best stuff and I always wonder why some of our sellers trade in their items! During my second week working there, I purchased  a vintage Celine bag (from when Michael Kors was their designer) and a vintage Louis Vuitton bucket bag.

What does being a “Frugal Shopaholic” mean to you?
Knowing how to finesse your way around the belief that style means spending a lot of money!

What is a frugal shopaholic tip or trick that can share with our readers?
Everything goes on sale so wait to buy something if you don't need to wear it ASAP. Fall merchandise gets put on the floor in August-September but is always marked down in December.

How can we keep in touch with you?
Kiara-Sharde.com and @kiara_sharde on Instagram!

It's a Photoshoot!

Meet Frugal Shopaholic LaNatria Renee Ellis

Name:
My name is LaNatria Renee Ellis.

Where are you from?
I am a blogger living in Garland, NC. The only claim to fame for my small and rural town is the Brook's Brothers Outlet store lol.

Explain your blog or Instagram name?
My IG name is Caribbean Cowgirl. It is a reflection and reverence to my both my southern upbringing and my paternal heritage (my father is Jamaican).

Describe your personal style?
My mother and father are to whom I owe the most credit . My mother made sure all 5 kids and my father were always dressed to the nines even on the most modest of budgets. She did so through bargain hunting and thrifting. My father, being Jamaican, was a man of many talents which including sewing and tailoring. Their frugal yet fun approach to looking nice are the inspiration behind my affordable and fun street style looks. Growing up in small town, with such a broad approach to fashion and style, I got plenty of odd stares but I used to it now.
Where are your favorite places to shop?
My favorite place to shop is a local thrift store in Elizabethtown, NC. Not only am I supporting local charity, but some of my most fabulous finds came from there including my Louis Vuitton Speedy for $15! I am also a very avid online shopper. The sites I frequent most are SheInRomweH&MGoJaneZara and my newest fine therealreal.com.

What does being a “Frugal Shopaholic” mean to you?
Being a 'Frugal Shopaholic' means knowing how to get the best bang for your buck. As a frugal shopaholic, I know what it means to get a deal which includes comparison shopping, reading reviews, and revamping old items through DIY projects.

What is a frugal shopaholic tip or trick that can share with our readers?
A tip I would share is if the deal is too good to pass up...just get it! For a steal you can always redesign the item guilt-free knowing you didn't pay a lot, or you could even bless a friend with it. Anytime I have passed up a deal too good to be true, I have regretted it.

How can we keep in touch with you?

Name:
My name is Pashen Jackson

Where are you from?
I am from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Explain your blog or Instagram name?
My instagram name is a compilation of my two passions teaching and thrifting. I am @Thethriftingteacher

Describe your personal style?
My personal style is professional, modest, and comfortable.

Where are your favorite places to shop?
I love shopping at Red, White, and Blue Thrift in Berlin, NJ, Bulk Vintage in Philadelphia, PA and of course Goodwill in Anywhere, USA.

What does being a “Frugal Shopaholic” mean to you?
To me, being a "Frugal Shopaholic" means it's not necessary to break the bank to have love for shopping.

What is a frugal shopaholic tip or trick that can share with our readers?
One tip I often share is try EVERYTHING on. It doesn't matter what the tag reads or how inexpensive an item is, if it doesn't fit it's money wasted.

I am currently working on my blog. I can be found on instagram @Thethriftingteacher.

Do It Yourself: Fur Slides

It is no doubt that slide sandals are in trend this spring and summer. I've even come across some fur slide sandals and it hit me, I can make my own for dirt cheap! So that's exactly what I did.

For this DIY Project all you need is:
1. Glue gun w/ glue sticks - $5
2. 5ft Boa- $7.00
3. Slide Sandals - $10
4. Scissors
DIY Fluffy Slide Sandals

First step is to plug in and heat up your glue gun, then cut off excess yarn/string from your boa. Second, once your glue gun is hot you will need to line the front of your slide sandal with hot glue. Once done quickly lay the first row of boa onto the glue.

Make sure its firmly placed. Repeat this for both sandals and allow to dry. Lastly, you will want to trim the excess fur from the sides so that it doesn't drag when you wear them.

DIY Fur Slide Sandals
Tada! There you have it a pair of your very own furry slides!

Meet Frugal Shopaholic Demita Johnson

 Name:
Demita Johnson affectionately known as Bambi to all those who know and love me.

Where are you from?
 I am from Richmond, Virginia

Explain your blog or instagram name?
Well they are the same but when I first started blogging, my blog was called "A Dash of Curves". I changed it because people would often say to me that I would sometimes put some of the oddest items together. Color combos or prints it didn't matter I would make them work! So I thought the new name "OddlyFashionable" was very fitting!
What are your favorite places to shop?
There are just too many but if I had to choose I would have to say Target, Old Navy, H&M, and the Goodwill.

What does being a “Frugal Shopaholic” mean to you?
Being a Frugal Shopaholic means that a Diva knows how to get what she wants without breaking the bank. Bring frugal doesn't mean cheap, it just means that we like to protect our coin and see no need to spend it unnecessarily!

What is a frugal shopaholic tip or trick that can share with our readers?
One tip I could give is to know the stores that you shop in frequently. Know what days they may get a new shipment or what days they mark items down. Find out what days the bigger named stores donate to the Goodwill. Like for instance, a local Target in my area donates out of season items to a Goodwill every Tuesday, thus giving me 1st dibs!

Derria Takes Charlotte Fashion Week 2015

The last two years I've put "attend a fashion week" on my vision board and this year I as able to fulfill one of goals and attend a few events at this years Charlotte Fashion Week. I had been getting emails about this years events and came across an email about attending free as a blogger/media. Great news for me I quickly signed up and was granted complimentary to all the events that week.

Day 1 was a kick off event where the models, designers and media could network and have cocktails At a really nice restaurant in the heart of uptown Charlotte. A photographer named Laurence that I've been working with for the little over a year was in attendance and he made it his business to introduce me to all the models, designers and even the directors of Charlotte Fashion Week. I passed out so many business cards so I was pretty excited. Most of the designers had models strutting their stuff all night in their designs so it was cool to see a glimpse of what the runway would look like.

Day 2 was the first runway show. It was held at the Charlotte Country Club. It was a very elegant and regal set up. After arriving an hour early I was able to snag a couple photos with key people before the shown started. The theme of Charlotte Fashion Week 2015 was 'Embracing the Ages'. In which all of the models were from different age groups they even had pets modeling in the fashion shows most of the clothing was made by designers or were items from boutiques or our favorite stores like H&M, BCBG and Banana Republic. The highlight of my two days of attending was meeting and having the opportunity to see a woman named Grazia Walker walk in the show. She is a spitting image of Iris Apfel the fashion icon, and I have the picture to prove it!
Grazia Walker and I
Overall, Charlotte Fashion Week was a good experience even though I didn't attend all of the weeks events. Networking is key! Here are a few more pictures.
