What's The TREND? Fanny Packs

Who would've thought that Fanny packs would make their way back around the fashion trend cycle? I sure did! Even the top designers like Chanel have chic fanny packs but I think of this as one of the most frugal trends that you could incorporate in your wardrobe this spring/summer. I could only afford and fit one fanny pack in my wardrobe that I purchased from Forever 21 that is a Chanel fanny pack look for less. Talk about excited because it was nowhere near a Chanel price.

The thing about the fanny pack trend this season that I love is that it is meant to be dressed up or down. The Fanny Pack doesn't have to be just for a dressed down relaxed look you could wear it to a local event paired with heels for example. And as you can see in the picture above, the new wave is to wear if draped across you instead of around your waist. But the stylist in me would do both. I have provided some frugal fanny pack options below. If you have incorporated this trend in your wardrobe let us know. You can also purchase a look for less Chanel fanny pack on Derria's Closet.

What's The TREND? Berets

A beret is a round flattish cap of felt or cloth. They've been around for more than a decade and have been apart of the cycle of fashion trends forever... so much so that I've had my collection of them for 10 years and I'm pretty sure at one period of time my grandmother and mother have worn them as well.

Back better than ever you can get them in any color, print or texture. Some of my favorite that I have seen so far have been in leather and those that have metal grommets. You should definitely have one in your wardrobe, one that can add pizzaz to any look. Check out some cute options below!

What Derria Wore

IMG_5714More men's wear in my closet in 2017! I'm not afraid to go to the men's section in any store just to see what hidden gems I can find. The shirt I'm wearing is from the H&M men's department in an XS so it fits just like it would in the women's section.

Lets talk about my love for the Who What Wear x Target line. I've purchased multiple pieces from the line and they continue to deliver quality, simple yet Chic apparel at a reasonable price. Sometimes it's priced cheaper than Targets staple store brands. I've been eyeing these pants for a few weeks and knew they would be perfect for this look. Only $30, not bad! My favorite part of this look is my fanny pack. Christen and I actually bought these at the same time and didn't know it until we got on Facetime and went to show each other per the usual! You'll notice that fanny packs are making a come back and I had to bust out in this faux leather quilted one from Forever21. Got it on sale for $11, it's sold out now but I've provided a link to one similar below. Check out myoutfit deets below!

Trends To Try In 2017

I wanted to share some of the top trends YOU should add to your wardrobe, and frugal options of course! A few of these trends are trends you may have seen years ago, but we all know that fashion and trends go through cycles. If you are into fashion like I am you'll make an effort to get this stuff in your wardrobe this season.

Trend #1: Puffer Coats- I touched on puffer coats in our recent "What's The Trend" post. I remember having one when I was a little girl and to see this trend make its way back around has me very excited. I have 4 puffer coats in my wardrobe right now!

Trend #2: Velour & Velvet Sweatsuits- Don't you remember wearing these in high school?? I sure do and I actually bought two velvet sweatsuits from Forever 21. I plan on styling it with a leather moto jacket with my "Look For Less" Yeezy ankle boots.
Trend #3:  Metallic Anything- Metallic adds pizazz to any simple look and it's in just about any retail store. You can also pair it with my next trend, a Band Tee!

Trend #4: Tour Merch Tees- Two years in a row band tees are still staple pieces in people's wardrobes. Check out Forever 21, H&M and Boohoo for frugal band tee options.
Trend #5: ORANGE is the new black- whether its construction orange or jailbird orange... you need it in your wardrobe in 2017! You'll stand for sure.

What Derria Wore

There are times when I want my look to be more coordinated than others and this was one of those times. I had been holding on to this jacket for almost two months and its already too hot to wear in the NC heat but it worked out for a 5 am shoot! I really love Adidas and the majority of their printed clothing. It always seems to end up in my wardrobe. Check out some of shoot below!

Derria Takes Charlotte Fashion Week 2015

The last two years I've put "attend a fashion week" on my vision board and this year I as able to fulfill one of goals and attend a few events at this years Charlotte Fashion Week. I had been getting emails about this years events and came across an email about attending free as a blogger/media. Great news for me I quickly signed up and was granted complimentary to all the events that week.

Day 1 was a kick off event where the models, designers and media could network and have cocktails At a really nice restaurant in the heart of uptown Charlotte. A photographer named Laurence that I've been working with for the little over a year was in attendance and he made it his business to introduce me to all the models, designers and even the directors of Charlotte Fashion Week. I passed out so many business cards so I was pretty excited. Most of the designers had models strutting their stuff all night in their designs so it was cool to see a glimpse of what the runway would look like.

Day 2 was the first runway show. It was held at the Charlotte Country Club. It was a very elegant and regal set up. After arriving an hour early I was able to snag a couple photos with key people before the shown started. The theme of Charlotte Fashion Week 2015 was 'Embracing the Ages'. In which all of the models were from different age groups they even had pets modeling in the fashion shows most of the clothing was made by designers or were items from boutiques or our favorite stores like H&M, BCBG and Banana Republic. The highlight of my two days of attending was meeting and having the opportunity to see a woman named Grazia Walker walk in the show. She is a spitting image of Iris Apfel the fashion icon, and I have the picture to prove it!

Overall, Charlotte Fashion Week was a good experience even though I didn't attend all of the weeks events. Networking is key! Here are a few more pictures.
