Name:
Jessica also known as "Thee Shopaholic"
Where are you from?
I am from New York City. Born and raised in Hollis, Queens.
Explain your blog or Instagram name?
My blog name is pretty self explanatory. I love to shop. I have been blessed to turn my passion into a career. I love to shop for friends as well as clients. It wasn't hard to come up with a blog name. People called me Thee Shopaholic long before Instagram and my blog even began.
Describe your personal style?
I don't have a personal style. I find that people place themselves in a box by labeling their style. I wear something that looks nice or compliments my body type. I love prints and bright colors but I also love basics. Sometimes I want to wear a unique statement piece, or loud combination; while other times I can wear a tailored shirt and slacks. It all depends on how I feel that day.
Where are your favorite places to shop?
I like H&M and Zara, but I shop comfortably online. Once every season I head to the thrift stores for trendy pieces like florals, fur coats, or trends like overalls and high waisted denim. They can be expensive when stores like Urban Outfitters place a title like "vintage" on them. I find that going to the source (clothing that came from the time period that was intended is key) allows me to get quality prints and fabric that you can't find today.
What does being a “Frugal Shopaholic” mean to you?
Being frugal means finding a way to maximize your style and minimizing your budget. It's about finding the most cost effective way to get what you need to create a carefully curated wardrobe.
What is a frugal shopaholic tip or trick that can share with our readers?
Before I buy an item I think about how many times or ways I can wear it. If I buy a dress I can wear it to the office with a cardigan or a blazer, with sneakers and a messy bun on the weekends when I'm running errands or blogging, and with heels and a bold lip for a date or Sunday brunch. I can even turn the dress into a top by adding a different skirt on the bottom. It can be a skirt by pairing it with a denim top or buttoned blouse. That one dress just gave me 5 outfits. Thank me later.
