The Scandal Collection

Just like Scandal we are back! Derria and I had to take some time away from blogging to adjust to our new lives. If you don't know already know, I've moved to Paris to attend grad school and Derria started a new job. But anyway, back in July we announced that Scandal costume designer would be collaborating with the Limited to create affordable versions of Olivia Pope's clothes.

Well the collection is out and I'm in love.  Now the prices aren't as affordable as I would like but that's nothing a promo code or coupon can't handle. Prices are still low in comparison to the designer duds that Pope wears on the show. If you are looking for some staples pieces to add to your  professional wardrobe look no further. Here are a few of my favorite looks.

Head over to The Limited and check out the collection.

Frugal Spotlight: Go Jane

Go Jane! Go Jane! Go Jane! Where do I start?? I was introduced to Go Jane about 5 years ago during my Junior year of college and my Frugal shopping life was forever changed. I check their new arrivals page just about everyday not to mention they are always running some type of promo, $1 shipping, 30% off sale or regular price items, you name it! Me and Christen use Go Jane faithfully for "Look for Less" or "Frugal Finds" posts. But for the most part we are avid fans and customers of Go Jane.

Go Jane is an online retailer of fashion forward apparel for the progressive young women. Over 14 years in the industry and with a team of great buyers and fashion fanatics Go Jane keeps it fresh and exciting for its customers.

Here are some items I'm looking to purchase soon:

Make a STATEMENT!

Frugal Statement Necklace
Friends don't let friends leave the house without accessories, and you shouldn't either! This summer make it your business to invest in statement pieces. They can make your simple outfit chic and bold. Statement pieces allow the wearer to step out of their comfort zone and define themselves as unique, confident and passionate.

Go ahead turn that plain body-con maxi dress or all white get up into something FIERCE! Below are some statement pieces that caught my eye and are all under $15!

Save $ or Splurge $$$ Make Up Forever Aqua Brow

Eyebrow make your face. So for people like me who have very sparse brows, we need a little help. I almost never leave the house without my brows on. There are many different brow products out there, I use Make Up Forever Aqua Brow and Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade both products are about $20 but they are worth it! Recently on YouTube I came across a review of NYX's new eyebrow gel in comparison to Make Up Forever's (MUFE). The NYX product is bigger and people have even said it is better! I love a good dupe so I'm definitely going to try it!

Splurge: Make Up Forever Aqua Brow $20
Save: NYX Eyebrow Gel $7 (Available at NYX. Use Promo Code: WELCOME25 for 25% off)

The Look for Less: Goyard

Look for Less: Goyard

Summer is coming to an end and for some of us it time to get ready to head back to school, whether you are a student or teacher.  I have been searching high and low for a nice quality tote bag that would be good for both school and traveling. Goyard's Classic St Louis Tote was one of the bags on my wishlist. One day while shopping in T.J. Maxx, I stumbled upon a look for less of the bag. Check it out below! Both come in a variety of colors to choose from.

In order to enter into the giveaway you must:
1. Be following @vegasplayhouse on IG
2. When posting your best denim fit tag @vegasplayhouse, also hastag #vegasplayhouse and #30daysofdenim

At the end of the 30 Day Challenge they will choose the best photo and gift the lucky follower.

If you are like me this is just a fun way to show your sense of style and creativity. Below are some options you can use for inspiration with the challenge:

What's The TREND? Dolphin Hem

Designers high and low have been making dolphin hem tops, dresses, skirts, and shorts for a while, but lately they have been all over. Dolphin hem items are curved on the sides or front; they mimic dolphin running short which people have been wearing for ages.  I'm completely obsessed with this trend. Here are some of my favorite dolphin hem items all under $50!

Are you feeling this trend?

Meet Frugal Shopaholic Meredith Tuttle

Name:
Meredith

Where are you from?

 Northern CA

Explain your Instagram name.

My IG handle is @thedailymer because my account offers a little glimpse into my interests (thrift shopping, altering clothes, reading) pretty much daily.

Describe your personal style?

My style is classic eclectic feminine with a modern twist.
Where are your favorite places to shop? In my town my favorite place to shop is a store that's half consignment boutique and half thrift store. It's right by my house so I consign, shop and even volunteer there!

What does being a "Frugal Shopaholic" mean to you?
"Frugal shopaholic" means (to me) someone who loves shopping but who's only willing to spend on a good deal.

What is a frugal shopaholic tip or trick that can share with our readers?

My biggest tip is find out what days your local thrift stores have even better deals. For example, some stores offer half off days or dollar-a-bag sales, the ultimate deal! Knowing a tiny bit of sewing goes a long way as well.

Splurge or Save?

I'm from Maryland and one of my friends has a gold chain of the state of Maryland. Ever since I saw his I wanted a similar one, more feminine of course. I went to my good friend Google and found out Baublebar sales custom state and country pendants in silver, gold and rose gold starting at $130. The price can go higher if you decide to get the 10 or 14 karat option. I also found some very cheap ones ranging from $8 - 35 on Etsy and Aliexpress. Since I'll be moving out of the country in a little over a month this will help me remember home. Should I splurge or save?
